The Company
This long established and well-loved food manufacturer has been in Melbourne homes since the 1960’s. As a family business this is one of Australia’s largest producers in its field with products available across major retail and food service channels nationwide.
The Role
Reporting to the General Manager, Operations the HR Coordinator will play an integral role in supporting the company’s people operations. Guiding all levels of employees, you will contribute to developing and maintaining contemporary human resource and safety management practice to lead the business through compliance and reputation management. Key responsibilities will include:
- Maintain best-practice HR, safety, and governance policies aligned with business objectives
- Manage end-to-end recruitment, including position descriptions, advertising, assessments, selection, and onboarding
- Coordinate performance management systems, including KPIs, reviews, and training programs
- Provide employee relations and safety advice, interpreting awards, resolving grievances, and supporting performance management
- Promote a strong safety culture through risk management, audits, incident reporting, and WHS initiatives
- Drive employee engagement through surveys, training needs analysis, succession planning, and cultural initiatives
- Support continuous improvement in people operations, technology solutions, and reporting
- Act as a role model and coach, guiding managers in resolving staff performance and member issues
- Respond to HR inquiries, providing accurate and timely information to employees
- Oversee payroll in coordination with the external payroll provider
- Manage employment contracts and ensure recruitment practices meet legal and organisational standards
- Handle Work Cover cases and ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) regulations
- Participate in health and wellbeing activities and report all incidents, near misses, and hazards
The Person
As a tertiary qualified individual, you will have several years’ experience working in a HACCP or a highly regulated environment, with proven experience navigating complexities within Manufacturing, FMCG or similar industries. You will have demonstratable employee engagement skills to support culture change to this performance driven family operated business and embed human resource and safety functions.
This is a permanent part time role with 3 full days (0.6) or hours spread across 5 days per week onsite in Altona. A rewarding environment with room for growth!
