Established Australian company supporting construction and built-environment projects, working alongside builders, developers and facilities teams from early project phases through to delivery and ongoing upkeep. They position themselves around quality, compliance, and maintaining long-term client relationships across repeat project work.
 
 
The Role
 
The HR & OH&S Manager oversees all HR and workplace health and safety functions, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations. The role supports a safe, productive, positive culture and manages recruitment, employee relations, training, performance and risk management to support business growth. Key Responsibilities include:
 
  • Lead end-to-end HR operations: recruitment, onboarding, workforce planning, employee relations and HR compliance.
  • Partner with leaders to provide timely HR advice aligned to employment legislation and internal policies.
  • Manage contracts and documentation: employment / contractor agreements, renewals, variations, terminations and record management (HRIS).
  • Coordinate training, inductions and compliance requirements; maintain training and certification / currency records.
  • Support WHS / OH&S systems: policies, procedures, audits and risk assessments (in consultation with the EHSQ Manager).
  • Assist with SWMS development / reviews and ensure safe work practices are followed across sites.
  • Support incident reporting and investigations, tracking actions to close-out within required timeframes.
  • Oversee injury management processes including WorkCover and Return to Work planning.
  • Contribute to ISO / Integrated Management System (IMS) compliance, audits, non-conformance management and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain high professional standards, accurate records and confidentiality with regular site travel as required.
 
 
The Person

You’ll bring, qualifications in HR / Business or WHS, formal WHS certification, and experience in HR (including hands-on WHS systems). You’ll have strong knowledge of Australian employment law and WHS requirements, be confident with MS Office, and communicate clearly at all levels. Construction exposure, system implementation experience, leadership capability, and Cert IV (Quality / Environmental) are highly regarded. Current Victorian driver’s licence essential.
 
You’re organised, detail-focused and comfortable juggling priorities in a fast-paced environment. You build strong relationships, handle sensitive matters professionally, and can navigate and resolve issues calmly and confidently. A proactive, safety-first mindset and the ability to lead training or engagement initiatives will set you apart.
 
You’ll partner closely with Directors and employees (including subcontractors), and engage with principal builders, suppliers / trades, client representatives, unions / employee reps, training providers, and regulatory bodies.
