ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting directly to the department manager and working within a small team, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of well-documented product integrated design solutions, that exceed quality standards and expectations. This role will see you design solutions for global OEM’s and will focus on testing and documentation of custom wiring and integration designs, as well as testing and development across a wide range of automotive electronic products. Responsibilities will include but not limited to.
- Participate in or lead project initiation meetings as a SME for integration projects (including mechanical and electrical engineering domains)
- Record technical requirements in project management system, seeking clarification from respective teams as needed
- Use data analytics, system design, workflow mapping, process flow diagrams and networking to capture requirements
- Liaise with customers, suppliers and project teams to develop innovative product integration solutions
- Identifying when and how the engineered parts are tested e.g. production part verification for infotainment systems
- Coordinate the development and testing of parts with the project management team
- Accurately record and maintain work and project task state in project management system
- Maintain the accuracy and evolution of the business systems process documentation for the development team (ISO 9001)
SKILLS & EXPEIRENCE
We are looking for an engineer (Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronic) with experience in the automotive development sector, ideally having previously worked with the integration or development of AVN, MMU’s or Telematics and has a sound understanding of FMEA effect and to develop control plans. You will be a clear and confident communicator, who is able to liaise with customers and articulate risk in an engineering context. You should bring some of the following.
- Sound experience in a Design Engineering role within a similar electronics manufacturing/product company (automotive experience is valuable)
- Experience with automotive CAN wiring design and potentially CAD drawings with Autodesk Inventor
- Managing the lifecycle of product engineering e.g. from design brief, design, testing to deployment
- Working with multiple cross functional engineering teams in a project driven environment
- Understanding of ISO 9001 and AS1100
- Familiarity with ADR 44 and 14 and Formula SAE or motorsport experience would be an advantage
