Leading Australian company specialising in the design, sale and manufacturing of fabricated products for the automotive industry are looking to appoint an experienced Purchasing Officer or Spare Parts Interpreter to join their team. ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position is responsible for managing Spare Parts sales and purchasing activities. The position ensures customers receive prompt service, accurate information, and timely supply of parts, while also supporting the growth and development of the spare parts business. The role also assists the purchasing department with sourcing and ordering components required for production and inventory. Your responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
To be considered for this role, you will bring sound experience within purchasing / spare parts of component sales, ideally from the automotive or machinery sector, coordinating the supply of spare parts. You will have a strong customer service focus and have a bias towards a technical support role.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The position ensures customers receive prompt service, accurate information, and timely supply of parts, while also supporting the growth and development of the spare parts business. The role also assists the purchasing department with sourcing and ordering components required for production and inventory. Your responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):
- Act as a central point of contact for receiving and coordinating all spare parts enquiries and sales
- Purchase spare parts and components required for orders and stock holdings
- Provide timely responses to customer enquiries, including quotes, order updates, and availability
- Process quotes, sales orders, invoices, and dispatch of spare parts
- Ensure all spare part sales are processed through Sales Orders in the system and accounts remain within trading terms
- Maintain a strong customer service focus, ensuring parts are delivered within agreed timeframes
- Keep accurate records of spare parts sales and customer history
- Monitor spare parts inventory and report shortages, discrepancies, or delays
- Assist in developing and growing the spare parts business, including identifying customer needs and opportunities for additional parts sales.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
To be considered for this role, you will bring sound experience within purchasing / spare parts of component sales, ideally from the automotive or machinery sector, coordinating the supply of spare parts. You will have a strong customer service focus and have a bias towards a technical support role.
Ideally you will have.
- A technical background or mechanical trade background is desirable
- The ability to read engineering drawings (preferred, but not essential)
- Experience in spare parts coordination or similar role
- Strong customer service mindset and the ability to communicate clearly with customers and internal teams
- Excellent IT, time management and interpersonal skills
