ABOUT THE ROLE
Working within the Shipping & Logistics team, our client is adding a Transport Coordinator. The position requires experience with landside and final-mile transport operations. The position works with commodity traders, international suppliers, shipping lines, local freight forwarders, and transport providers, delivering materials from wharves/depots to construction/project sites nationally. Working with 20+ suppliers. This position requires a decision-maker who is an autonomous operator.
DUTIES
• Coordinate deliveries nationally from the wharf to final destination (POD)
• Ensure all deliveries are DIFOT with complete visibility, communicating delays
• Liaise directly with transport companies, local depots, shipping lines and local freight forwarders to ensure orders are actioned as booked
• Manage exceptions by finding solutions and full customer visibility
• Work in a team of 5 to ensure all processes and procedures are uniform
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Previous experience in a domestic transport role, wharf-to-door (unpack & delivery) an advantage
• Exposure to providing transport on a national scale
• Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain supplier and local vendor relationships
• Ability to manage and engage the correct supplier based on cargo and destination (20 suppliers nationally)
• Strong communication skills (verbal & written)
