ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a hands-on coordination role responsible for planning and managing the movement of structural steel from Australian ports and unpack facilities through to customer delivery.
Working in a fast-paced environment, you'll coordinate transport providers, monitor deliveries, communicate with customers and ensure shipments are delivered safely, efficiently and on time. You'll work closely with freight forwarders, customs brokers, unpack facilities, transport providers and internal stakeholders, making this an ideal role for someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving and building strong working relationships.
DUTIES
• Coordinate daily transport bookings across metro, regional and interstate Australia.
• Plan transport requirements ahead of vessel arrivals.
• Liaise with container unpack facilities to coordinate container collection, unpacking and dehire.
• Monitor vessel arrivals, shipment milestones and delivery schedules.
• Track deliveries through to completion and obtain Proof of Delivery documentation.
• Proactively communicate shipment and delivery updates to customers, including ETAs and any delays.
• Work closely with transport providers, freight forwarders and customs brokers to resolve operational issues.
• Coordinate specialist transport including crane trucks, B-doubles, tilt trays and oversize steel loads.
• Maintain accurate transport, shipment and delivery records within company systems.
• Assist with transport pricing, invoice checking and cost control.
• Support reporting, forecasting and continuous improvement initiatives.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Previous experience in transport, logistics, shipping or supply chain coordination.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Experience coordinating third-party transport providers.
• High attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
• Experience within steel, manufacturing, freight forwarding or industrial logistics will be highly regarded.
